April Ross

April Ross has won more than one gold medal in the Olympic Games. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players to have achieved this feat. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to secure her third gold alongside first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. This could be the final opportunity she gets to do so at the age of 39. Still confident nevertheless. If we perform at our very best and even perform very well, I think we'll win the gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. Additionally, I'm going to play a bit of chance. Ross was born the 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. She then went on to compete in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran tracks in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a pre-collegiate athlete. In her final game she clearly stood out. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court as per her school bio. Thanks to her hard work she was honoured as one of the 1998 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since 2017, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches long before their pairing. She was a winner of numerous major events with two different teams, one of whom is an icon of volleyball. Between 2007 and 2013, she was working with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be extremely successful on the world stage, claiming an overall world title in 2009. They also won the Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings took home the gold. As fate would have it Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. The team won bronze at the beach volleyball competition in the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans at USC during her high school after she finished her high school. In fact, her time in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. While a freshman in the year 2000 she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA All-American Freshman of Year honors and was an All-American. Furthermore, she assisted her Trojans in reaching the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore year However, she came back as an All-American. After two more seasons playing for the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. She was a fantastic athlete, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter reach the top in beach volleyball. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away of breast cancer. She continues to keep her mother's memory close and dear. Margie continues to be an inspiration while on the beaches, and throughout her life.
